My skincare favorites

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I struggled with acne for years. Sometimes, I still do. And it took me a long time to get into a skincare routine that really worked for me…

I was around 12 years old when I got my first pimple. The only reason I know that is because I wrote a diary entry about it! But seriously, it just went downhill from there. I mean, don’t get me wrong, a lot of kids have it worse than I did ever did. But I still struggled, and it hit my confidence hard

After years of facials, chemical peels, laser treatments, and dermatologist visits, I found my magic potion. Well, not quite… but my breakouts are definitely contained!

Here are some of the products that have helped me the most:

Spironolactone

Spironolactone is an oral medication (usually prescribed to manage blood pressure) that I take once a day to balance my hormones and treat my acne.

Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser

Clear Pore is thick and somewhat intrusive face wash that works to dry out and eliminate breakouts. Since it is so drying, I only use it in the mornings.

CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser

The CeraVe Facial Cleanser is a creamy and moisturizing face wash that removes makeup and helps to counterbalance the dryness of my morning cleanser.

CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotions (AM and PM)

My favorite moisturizer of all time! I usually use the AM/PM ones daily, but the regular one is great for traveling.

Differin Gel

This is a topical retinoid treatment that I’ve been using since middle school. It was a prescription of mine until it made the Rx to OTC switch.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

Ahh… my go-to breakout treatment. You just dip a Q-tip in the bottle, dot the product on your problem area, let it sit overnight, and voilà!

Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patches

These are another staple in my skincare routine. Hero patches are perfect for any stubborn breakouts that will just not go away. My favorite part is that they are clear so you can wear them throughout the day.
